Hi, I just finished the German translation of the FB 3.0 language reference. I cannot upload any files to the homepage. CKEdit says „file not found“. Can someone help? If this CKEdit (which I guess is CKEditor) validates the links between generated HTML files, that might cause the error. I also saw some syntax problems (or at least the highlighter in IntelliJ breaks, which generally points to some syntax problem). I'll try to fix those and upload. Mark -- Mark Rotteveel |

However, I noticed that the file is called firebird-30-language-reference-de (.html/.pdf), while the previous one was called firebird-25-sprachreferenz. Changing this to firebird-30-sprachreferenz is more in line with the naming convention documented in the Docwriting Guide[1] (specifically in "Other file naming conventions"). Do you have any objections if I make this change, or did you have a specific reason for using firebird-30-language-reference-de? Hi Mark, thank you. CKEdit ist he CMS editor of the Firebird homepage. I used it in the past to upload files and so on. But when I start browsing the server's directories I get the error. I thought we keep the consistency when naming it "firebird-30-language-reference-de". The russian PDF is also named that way: firebird-language-reference-30-rus.pdf That's the only reason. Feel free to rename it. Martin [https://www.it-syn.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/130313-it-synergy-Logo-200x81.png] E-Mail: Mar...@it... But when I start browsing the server's > directories I get the error. The CMS of the Firebird website is (based on) CKEditor. As far as I'm aware, you can't upload files with it, at least not to the location used for documentation (and if it is possible, I don't see the option in the web front-end). > I thought we keep the consistency when naming it > "firebird-30-language-reference-de". The russian PDF is also named that > way: firebird-language-reference-30-rus.pdf > That's the only reason. Feel free to rename it. The Russian version is 'special' in that it is not actually maintained by us, and it doesn't follow all of the naming conventions of the documentation project. It might also be of the non-ASCII characters used in Russian (though then it should have ended in -ru instead of -rus, but it is too late to fix that now). In any case, I changed the name, uploaded them (and removed these ones with the old names), and added an entry on https://firebirdsql.org/en/reference-manuals/ Mark -- Mark Rotteveel |

Hi all, The original convention was to name the documents in their own language, e.g. Firebird-Sicherheit.html, Firebird-Snelstartgids.pdf. But when the new website was built - many years ago - the site builders renamed them to their English names + a language suffix. This was not discussed and decided in the docs group; I was against it but the site builders argued that it was better for consistency and SEO (IIRC!) So I didn't make a huge point out of it and nor did anybody else. However, I'm all for going back to the old convention. Hi all, > The original convention was to name the documents in their own > language, e.g. Firebird-Sicherheit.html, Firebird-Snelstartgids.pdf. Just to make this more clear: this convention was for the names of the published files (esp. the single-file output like PDFs), not the source files. But I don't see why it couldn't also be used for those. Cheers, Paul |

In the Asciidoc setup, the main file name determines the default output filename. So there we use the name for both source and output file. Mark -- Mark Rotteveel |

So there we use the name for both source and output file. OK, thanks. It was the same in the old setup, btw. It would spit out the Firebird 1.5 Quickstart Guide as qsg15.pdf, for instance. Only there we changed the file names of the PDF's, including correct capitalisation, and left the source names as they were. For the reader, it amounts to the same of course. Cheers, Paul |
