While writing the article
several weeks ago, I noticed that I could drop the procedure that was used
by the table's calculated field and (after inspection) that IB6 didn't track
the dependency in rdb$dependencies. However, Ivan Prenosil did the same
steps than me and he got the correct dependencies stored, to the point he
couldn't drop the procedure as on would expect. The only difference is I
used a couple of alter table commands while testing (created the table with
one field, then defined the proc, then altered the table to add a computed
field based on that proc), whereas Ivan got straight to the creation of the
procedure first and then to the creation of the table with the computed
Although I tried once to reproduce the steps I did and didn't reach a
definitive conclusion, I thought I would let you know that there seems to be
some order of definitions that can stop IB from tracking dependencies.
