     Do remember that the assert call is a no-op in production
builds.  When considering adding an assert, consider a BUGCHECK
instead so errors in production are handled ... if not handled
gracefully.

How I can compile the Firebird on the Linux Slackware 8 and teh PIII 
dual Processor?




Hello !

This little patch is required to compile FB2 (1.5) examples on Linux (batch
compilation works flawlessly after that).
May anyone apply this patch too ? I was about to fix several DDL bugs I
discovered earlier, but I see FB2 code
needs much cleanup now. So I'm gonna fix some compilation warnings and
clean up code a little first.
How should I submit my patches ?

Your last config-related change in inet.cpp causes posix classic
builds to fail. I'm going to commit my temporary hack to make it
work and wait until you add proper support of directories to
configuration manager.

One word of advice, get FB 1.5 RC3. There were some problems in
regards to blobs and backup/restore in FB 1.5 RC2. And, those are
fixed in FB 1.5 RC3.

I plan on it but was waiting for a good install version that doesn't mess
with the MS dll's.  We are extremely busy and I do not have access rights to
our servers to install RC3 myself.  So it has to be the quick and easy
install Firebird is known for.

I could install it on my local workstation from the zip file.  Is all you
have to do just overwrite the current Firebird files (after FB is shutdown,
of course)?

My problem with the overwritten MSVCP60 runtime occurred with the 
unofficial Wise installer from Tony Caduto's website.  Tony was going to 
fix it, I believe.

AFAIK, the official RC's don't overwrite the runtimes.

GPRE should not initialize global variables as on Windos NT with =
DEV-Studio the linker can not merge multible defined initialized global =
variables within different object files.

Old code is something like that:
gds__database =3D 0;
gds__trans =3D 0;

Also it is not necessary to initialize static vars with zero.

I got a Problem with the new 1.5 RC7 linux SS release. I crashes after some=

hours of operation. I have some processes running doing selects every some=

seconds using the IscDbc classes (latest release from Nov. 19th). The crash=

My corefiles show that the crash happens while destructing a PreparedStatem=

Can you create a reproducible test-case for this bug? Preferably it 
should use isql and/or API. If you need to sent big amount of data (i.e. 
comressed database backup), contact me privately before, please. It's 
impossible to fix such a bug using  only information from firebird.log. 
Linux version (kernel, libc) is also required. Also interesting, can you 
reproduce this bug on CS? Win32?
