I wasn't aware of an AIM audio solution for the Mac, but if anyone else has information on one, I am all ears! From my understanding, the AV components of iChat were developed entirely by Apple (since AOL is prohibited from doing video chat by the FCC as a restriction on their TimeWarner merger) Also, the audio codec used by AIM (and Yahoo!) is a windows-only solution (although some Intel Linux code has been created to run that specific Windows DLL - but that doesn't help us PowerPC users) That codec is shipped as a part of Windows so AIM doesn't have to pay any royalty licensing for it, so it is likely that they will continue to use that solution and we will have to rely upon "Audio, for the rest of us....."
