I'm interested in helping out on Fire. I've been looking for an
open-source/Mac project to contribute to in order to help the community
and learn Macintosh programming skills. Fire seems like a perfect match.
My background is in comp-sci and theater, and I used to work for Oracle
doing ERP development. However, I don't have any Mac experience(other
than reading tech notes) and have never worked on an opensource project,
or used most common opensource project admin software(CVS, patch, etc).
If you are interested in someone doing bug fixes that no one else wants
to waste time on, sign me up! As a "getting my feet wet" task, I looked
at bug-589465. More buddies were being sent to the server during AIM
connection as compared to the total number of AIM buddies. I tracked it
down to members of the OfflineBuddyGroup being sent twice - once as the
while loop iterated through that group and once while it iterated
through the group to which the buddy actually belongs. I'm assuming
this is actually a bug, and not some kind of AIM login requirement. If
it is, I've attached my fix in the file BuddyItem.m. I modifed the
method "getBuddiesforService" to exclude the "OfflineBuddyGroup" from
its while loop. I would be willing to merge/checkin/whatever, if you
could explain the process.
Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon.
