We now have a Wiki set up for Fire here (thanks Graham!): http://fire.sourceforge.net/Wiki In case you haven't been exposed to it before, Wiki is a collaborative documentation tool which allows anyone to edit the content. Please feel free to correct spelling or add any relevant information about Fire or the various instant messaging services to this Wiki for the benefit of all. I've started porting our Frequently Asked Questions list over to this, and there's also some other useful information there. In particular, I hope this will allow our online documentation to be much more up to date and useful than it is now. The FAQ for example has a lot of 1.0.x era information in it which I've started correcting as I bring the content over. Thanks, -Jason |

There are 2 things we have found, which are not yet in the instructions=20= (thank you for the reminder) 1) If you are using the released (1.5.1) version of fire as the basis=20 for starting your localization, you need to make sure that nibtool (and=20= AppleGlot) have permission to change items in the application. To do this, go to the command line and execute the following command at=20= the Terminal: go to the directory containing Fire.app cd (put the correct directory name here - like /Applications) chmod -R +w Fire.app If it gives you a flood of error messages, you will have to do this as=20= an Administrative user on the machine, by doing the following; sudo chmod -R +w Fire.app It will then ask you for your password and make the change. 2) The directories you use for all of the localzation work have to have=20= simple names, meaning that none of the path leading up to the locations=20= you use can contain space, or non-english alphabetic character... Sorry no =E9=FC=F1=E7 etc Hope this solves the problems you are seeing. (I have cc'd the=20 fire-localization list, because others probably want to know this=20 information as well. Hi Xavier! I'm not sure that the archives will be terribly helpful, but there is a localization how-to located here: http://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=14574&group_id=33772 put together by another Fire team member. If I remember correctly, there's an old French translation still in CVS, so I suggest taking a look at that - it will probably greatly reduce the amount of work you'll need to do. Actually, there's a helpful message from Alan Humphreys dated Jan-5-2005, look at that in the list archives. Good luck and if you have any further questions, just ask! Hi everyone! I've suscribed to the list a few days ago after reading the forums and I first intended to get a glimpse at what's going on on the list before posting but it seems there just isn't much going at all so here I am! I've been using Fire for quite some time now and I recently learned there was no French localization. I'm willing to help there, but I have no idea of the amount of work required, nor do I know what software tools are necessary. Could someone help me as how to get started? Maybe if I could get access to the list archives I could find all the info there. Thanks in advance, Xavier. |

OK, Now I have a serious problem with Localizable.strings . It contain several / <forward slash> characters, however if I include a / in the Danish loc, I'm getting the below error message from the XML parser, and it defaults to using the English Localizable.strings file instead. Hi all, I'm very very sorry to say that I currently can't work on updating Italian localization. I'm too busy and I just haven't got enough time to do everything I would like to do. :-( However I'm still reading fire-localization mailing list, and if anybody volunteers for updating Italian loc I'll be glad to help him with hints, testing, providing my TODO file etc. Accept my apologies! - Alessandro =20 |
