Question: How do you delete a person from the buddy list? I have deleted them using the MSN messanger client and they are still in my list in the latest version of Fire. This is a feature request on sourceforge so it's on the list for the future. > 2. is there anyway to keep fire from reporting when hotmail emails > arrive in my inbox? i've tried everything but those annoying prompts > pop up every time i get any email in my hotmail account. Edit your MSN account and disable the Show mail alerts checkbox, then click OK. Is this not working for you? -Jason |

I just had to ask, is there a way to remove the ** Default Group ** from the Buddy List? or does it do something really important? I've just moved over from iChat, and I find this works really well so far! However, are you considering customisable icons for each buddy? That's one thing I miss from iChat.. makes the buddy list easier to look at, at a glance.. Also, is there a way to only show the people who are currently online, rather than everyone? Thanks! Adam, To remove the "** Default Group **" from the Buddy List, you need to go into the Edit Buddies view of the Buddy List (Click on the mini-tools icon in the group of 3 on the left side of the Buddies Window toolbar.) Then control click on the "** Default Group **" and select "Remove" from the popup menu and it will disappear. (Also as a side effect, all buddies that are currently in that group will be removed as well, so you might want to move those buddies to another group before deleting this one. Good Luck - Alan On Friday, January 24, 2003, at 10:13 AM, Adam Jones wrote: > I just had to ask, is there a way to remove the ** Default Group ** > from the Buddy List? or does it do something really important? > > I've just moved over from iChat, and I find this works really well so > far! Fred, The easiest way is to start Fire and go to the "Accounts" menu and select "Edit Accounts" This will bring up a dialog box allowing you to enter your account information. Once the "Accounts" window is active, click on the Add Account icon in the toolbar: |

More importantly, when I turn it on, I'd like the existing chat windows to then display the time. The use case is: I want to know whether the 'ping' from my buddy came the night before or this morning, but I don't really want to clutter up my chat windows with timestamps all of the time. This new version, 0.32b has a focus bug. I believe in my preferences I have it set so that new messages do not focus the app. If I am working in another application, it won't interrupt me. So, I was used to clicking on the Fire icon on the dock, which, in usual OSX fashion, brings all the windows owned by that app, to the foreground. I've noticed that with this new version, only the "buddies" window and other open chat windows are raised. It seems to only happen to windows that were created when the app was not focused. Also, when a new message comes through (and Fire is not focused) I get this error in the console: Feb 5 22:44:14 Yosemite WindowServer[172]: orderWindow: Invalid other window BTW, I just checked my preferences and "New messages should" is set to "Leave windows where they are" which works fine. Still, clicking on the Fire dock icon should raise all the Fire member window, including new messages received since the last time it was focused. -rory |

That clock badge on your Fire dock icon indicates that your computer=20 has been idle, and Fire has notified the IM servers that you are idle=20 (with an Idle away status message) You can turn this feature off in Fire Preferences, under the General=20 preferences tab, uncheck the box for "Send a message when Idle" Hope this helps - Alan On Thursday, February 6, 2003, at 08:56 AM, Gianni Contestabile wrote: > Dear All, > > I had sometimes a strange "clock" that appearing on the Fire icon on=20= > my dock and it seems that it put me automatically in a "away"=20 > position...Any clue ? > -- > Gianni Contestabile > Publications Officer > > EMCDDA - European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction > Rua da cruz de Santa Apol=F3nia, 23/25 > 1149-045 Lisboa > Portugal > > Phone:+351-218 113 000 > Fax: +351-218 113 055 > Website:http://www.emcdda.eu.int= |

In a group chat, which public key do you use to encrypt? If there are 5 people in the room, you can't simultaneously encrypt a message for all of them (as far as I understand). > 2nd what happens if I sign a message and send it and another irc > client does not support gpg signatures? I believe the signature is additional data, and the original message is unchanged when signing. I don't use the GPG features myself, so you may get better answers to this on fire-talk or fire-development (the original author of the GPG support is not active in Fire development currently, and thus is not on fire-core). -Jason |

im not sure if there is something wrong with fire, or if its aol, but this problem seems to be be coming up all the time jusr recently, even though i havent installed/changed anything on the computer. when i sign onto aim using toc, only a few people in my main group seem to show up, but i can recieve messages from people that i guess can tell when i sign on...just they dont show up on my list. this problem is somewhat solved using oscar, but there are still many people that i can not see online, although they can tell i am, and i can recieve, but not reply to, thier messages. thank you for your time, and you have made an otherwise great product! ------------------------------ Alex Grillo 978-758-0022 IM: nurv2600 One hand on the wheel The other on the bottle One foot in the grave The other on the throttle |
