#545 IRC Notify / User Status

I'm really surprised nobody misses a notify feature in
IRC. I use IRC just as AIM or ICQ, to chat with
specific persons, rather than enter "rooms", and using
IRC with Fire I'm completely blind as to the
online/offline status of people. They always show as
being online if their nicks have been added to the
buddy list even if they are not, which is sort of
misleading.

If it's not possible to add the feature to the buddy
list, it would be nice to have at least the option to
type "/notify whoever" as an IRC command to find out if
people are online or not. Otherwise there's no way at
all to know.

Thank you for your work. Fire has replaced a whole
bunch of apps in my OS X desktop, except, for the
reason I've just explained, the IRC client. It'd be
great to get rid of that too and have all IMs in a
single window. Cheers.
