does anybody have experience in applying morphological operators in a three dimensional matrix/grid?
I am need to model binary clouds of points (data origin is remote sensing images) in the feature space fora classification algorithm. What I have are matrices of 256vs256vs256 voxels where my points have value 1 e and the rest are zero.
I am trying to model their shape with alternate sequential filters (closing-opening) with increasing size. It works well in 2D but in 3D the opening erodes completely the closing, so I dilate the cloud elements at each iteration but even so sometimes it fails.
I am working on Matlab with Morphology Toolbox, are there better platforms? alternatives?
somebody have some suggestion-comments?
In the institute I works not many people are familiar with mathematical morphology, and even in three dimensions...
Any help contact is appreciated.
Personnaly I can't help you for that.
