File Rename Utilites / News: Recent posts

In release 1.7 I added a string search and replace utility... There seems to be a few gaps in GNU's string utilities, and hopefully "fromto" fills one of them. Initially I wasn't sure how robust it was, but a few months later I've only noticed one problem - which has been addressed with 1.7.1 - it couldn't match strings starting with a hyphen.

With file-rename-utils 1.6,
I'm including KTrash which provides (currently incomplete) support for the
newer KDE trash can. Feedback?

Learnt linuxdoc recently, and found it great to quickly put together some html documentation. Click on the "Home Page" item to visit the web page.

If you've ever done big file renames with any of these utilities, or used them on an interesting OS, please leave a message on the Hall of Fame forum.

Status, May 2005:

Lowercase and Trash have been undergoing small changes and bug-fixes this last year. Making the test option work properly still needs to be done, and I have an algorithm floating somewhere in my head, so this may get done this winter holidays.
