Nexus is a web-based file server with an easy to use powerful interface that offers a range of document management features including category organization, document tagging, two-levels of user organization, permission on a per-file basis and more.
This is a stable build of Nexus 1.5 that includes a host of improvements across the board.
Those of you who were getting a a Javascript error with the text "...The xajax Javascript file could not be included..." should get this latest version. It fixes a problem that was causing the url detection code to malfunction in certain server configurations.
This new version brings Nexus to its final release state and adds a few features that have been requested and should round off the edges on an already powerful file management package. These features include:
- Administrators can send email to one or more groups of users
- Any registered user can send email to another user from within Nexus without either party knowing the other's email address
- Allow self-registration (optional - enabled through global settings)
This is the first release of Nexus, a web-based file management system similar to Box.net or X Drive. The idea with Nexus is to offer up the kind of easy to use web-based file management you would see with Box.net but also provide some powerful permissions application. It's a work in progress and I'm hoping the community can help make it a real alternative to some of the hosted solutions out there.
