This looks a WHOLE lot like fheroes, but this guy is selling it on the app
store. If this is fheroes being ported and sold, then I'd really like to see
this guy get shut down as that is just plain wrong. Is there any way to verify
this? Let me know if there's anything I can do. Cheers,

If he use the original graphics with copyright of Ubi, then they may say
something. But as fheroes use the same graphics ¿it's difficult to see if it's
a copy of fheroes engine.

Checked the tavern and got a message saying check a certain URL for the latest
build of fheroes2. Took a screen grab and will link it shortly. I think that
counts as proof, no?

I think that with GNU GLP license they can change and distribute it for a fee
if they always keep the license, said that is a derived work from fheroes, the
fee it's "for the physical act of transferring a copy" and they public the
source.
And as the license included in the LICENSE file say, they can't package it
with Heroes2.agg: "Do not make the official packages for assembly FHeroes2
together with the resource file HEROES2.AGG."
We need to denounce they to remove it or to subscribe to GNU GPL and ask
permission to Ubisoft for distribute agg file.

I think the first thing to do should be contacting the developer and try to
solve the issue with him. It's quite possible that he just didn't know the
details and would gladly comply with the GPL if we explain the obligations to
him. I did send a mail and pointed them to this thread.
I couldn't try out the program but from the description it might be that there
are several issues: I can't see a statement that mentions that the program is distributed under the GPL (it has to, if it is a derived work of fheroes2) I can't find a link to the source code.
I don't see any mentioning of it being derived from fheroes2 but I'm not sure
if the GPL says that's needed.
Come on people, will we go thru this again? There was such case brought up
already, and the end result was that afletdinov "hid" AI code in the game.
What do you want to achieve now? With all these discussions you just piss him
off I guess, so he may stop working on the code at all. So, if you think that
it's not ok, go fight with Apple yourself!
And the only scalable solution to this problem is to put up on various
"markets" official ports from the project itself.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I don't think we need to be that pessimistic. Another scalable solution is
telling clearly what the conditions for a port are and hoping that they
contribute back. But you might be right that our discussion isn't of much use
here - I'll go and play fheroes2. :)

Shouldn't the first priority be to get Apple to remove this app from the store
and stop this guy from making any more money off of work that is not his?
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
Remember, this is being distributed through the Apple App Store. Which means
no source is included. Also, there is no way for the end user to view any
files that might be bundled as those are all hidden by iOS. So no matter what,
this app is in violation of the license and should be removed from the App
Store. I would contact Apple myself and ask them to pull down the app, but I
don't have any legal standing to do so. Am I wrong in feeling that what this
guy is doing is just plain wrong?

I deconstructed the ipa file (just a zip file) and it does not contain any

another example of this person violating the license. I don't understand why
you aren't angry with this guy. I had nothing to do with this project and the
idea that this guy is making $4 a pop off of your work makes me livid.

Well you could get Ubisoft involved. The seller is infringing Ubisoft's

Are there any easter eggs or other things that I could look for that would
indicate weather it is your code?
see CREDITS menu
That menu has been disabled. I did notice a rumor in the tavern that said
something about now being in beta. Sound familiar?

Yes, I think so.

About LICENSE:
main code licensed GPL2, AI code licensed Non-commercial License, also this
distribution include materials developed by third
parties.
Anything I can o to help?
Certainly, they are violating the license because it's not free.
All I can do, I posted a question on email: appstorenotices@apple.com

For more information I suggest reading the license itself or
https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-violation.html
or
http://www.softwarefreedom.org/resources/2008/compliance-

Also, Ubisoft would not be very pleased to learn that others are making money
from the Heroes II game.
Best regards,
Steven.

Yes, fheroes2 is great isn't it? =)
Best regards,

I think, it is necessary to find the programmer who could make port for ios
and could sell fheroes2 on AppStore for FREE.
:)

Menu Credits is blocked it already is a violation GPL2.
Because in it the license, authors and the product version is specified.
Can you check the facts:
- Does the distribution contain a copy of the License, Authors files?
- Is modified source code included in the distribution?
Remember, this is being distributed through the Apple App Store. Which means
no source is included. Also, there is no way for the end user to view any

Maybe a quiet word from Ubisoft to Apple could do the trick - especially if
Apple is earning money itself on breach of other's copyright.
Best regards,
Steven.
