check_cmd() in current (20060801) svn looks fragile.
For example on Fedora Core 5, gcc 4.1.1, x86_64:

$ ./configure --extra-cflags=-Wall
Error, no memalign() but SSE enabled, disable it or use
--enable-memalign-hack.

This is apparently because the "screen scraping" grep
does not recognize the emitted compiler warnings. From
config.err:

gcc -Wall -c -o /tmp/ffmpeg-conf-16869-18390-23628.o
/tmp/ffmpeg-conf-23816-18390-29893.c
/tmp/ffmpeg-conf-23816-18390-29893.c: In function ‘main’:
/tmp/ffmpeg-conf-23816-18390-29893.c:4: warning:
control reaches end of non-void function

    It seems that the "screen scraping" is gone in current svn.
