when i try to play an mp3 file, every now and then the audio will just skip; there are no pauses or anything, it just simply skips.

when i try to watch a (divx) avi file, every now and then the video will 'quicken', like it's trying to catch up.

i'm running an intel core2duo e6750 with 2gb ram
