#192 XPSP2/Nero/preview crashes with ffdshow.ax in stack

v1.0 (example)

Open Nero Express, start new DVD, add some .AVI files
to it. Nero crashes after adding a few .AVI files.

The same behaviour has been reported by someone else:

Why it may be ffdshow-related problem:

1. This occurs while adding .AVI files. Adding other
files does not cause Nero to crash.
2. Error stack trace in crash debugger contains
ffdshow.ax on top of it
3. (!) Turning off preview icon in Nero 'Add file'
dialog resolves the problem.

Probably, preview icon on DIVX file is displayed with
the use of ffdshow library, which causes the crash.

ffdshow.ax is dated Aug 28 2004. Old version gave the
same result.
Tried with the old Nero, and the newest, nero63125.exe
with the same result.

Turning on 'File preview' in Windows Explorer does not
cause the Explorer to crash - it displays AVI preview
icons just fine.

I can confirm this bug. It's a bit strange, because during
directshow graph negotiation ffdshow sets output size to (for
example) 704x288, but just after delivering first frame, the
size is changed to a lot smaller (presumably preview thumbnail
size). ffdshow of course tried to copy large decoded frame to
the small one causing access violation.
I guess there is something wrong going during the filters
negotiation process, quite possibly on ffdshow side. However,
for now I did a quick hack to copy only part of the decoded
frame to output window. It doesn't crash, but you don't see
whole downsized decoded frame, but just a small part of it.
    Please try this http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/ffdshow-
20040928.exe build and let me know if it helps.

After migrating to ffdshow-20040928.exe Nero does not crash
even with preview turned on in 'Add file' dialog.

Pereview in 'Add file' dialog shows preview with stop/play
buttons, so you can actually play whole movie in this little
preview. Preview in Windows Explorer shows just one AVI
frame, and does not play the movie. May be that is why it
did not crash in the Explorer before.

Thank you for the great work you are doing on the project.

I'm wondering why the preview worked in Windows 2000 SP4
and didn't worked in XP SP2. I guess there may be something
wrong with ffdshow, but I don't know what could it be.
