FFDShow is great and I've been using it both for decoding and encoding for quite a while. Recently I moved to a new computer with Win7 x64 and installed ffdshow64 (ffdshow_rev3851_20110512_clsid_x64). Looking at the Encoder Panel Configuration the only encoding codecs available are:
Are these the codecs available in the x64 version? Will it be possible to use MPEG4/H.264 codecs in the near future? Is it possible to use the x86 version of ffdshow on a x64 OS?
Thanks,

I had it showing up in ffdshow before I got my new pc, my old pc was XP though. I had always been using MPEG-4 as encoder in ffdshow configuration when rendering movies, and it was always working really good, but as I said I cannot get it working on my new pc.
And yes I'm using ffdshow 64 bit version. But I need that MPEG-4 encoder somehow, please help!
Thanks

x64 version of ffdshow has the same encoders as the x86 version.
Many encoder were removed because they were buggy, outdated, ore useless.
If you want to encode H.264 video, install the x264VFW codec. If you want to encode MPEG-4 video, install the Xvid codec.
x86 software works fine on x64 versions of Windows.
I have the COMPLETELY same problem!

Please help someone!
Thanks
Sorry, didn't see reply from clsid2.
I already installed Xvid codec clsid2, and I see it on the decoder site of ffdshow x64
But not on encoder
Image:
It will no show up in ffdshow. It is a completely separate codec. You can select it wherever you also select could ffdshow.
You of course need the 64-bit version for use with 64-bit Vegas.
If it does not work, then complain to Sony.

IT WAS REMOVED
YOU NEED TO INSTALL THE XVID CODEC INSTEAD
THAT IS BETTER
I did install Xvid codec - but Xvid is only showing on the decoder and not encoding part of the configuration.
Do you have a clue why?
Thanks
You are looking in the wrong place.
The Xvid codec works independently from ffdshow. You can select Xvid wherever you are selecting ffdshow VFW.
No but I want MPEG-4 as encoder, Xvid will only be the FOURCC. But MPEG-4 as encoder, it is not showing though.
Xvid is a MPEG-4 encoder. In fact, it is the best MPEG-4 encoder available.
Could you please post announce about removed codecs on a project main page?
With links to relevant replacements. Thanks.
SOLUTION: uninstall ffdshow and reinstall a old version :
