been trying to get VobSub (bitmap) subs working in mkv container with ffdshow-tryout latest build (3342) - using Haali and ZoomPlayer 7

it works - after a fashion - but there are some bugs, the most important of which seems to be that the subs only render for a while, then just stop appearing!!

this was a film I encoded myself from BD original, using BDSup2Sub as tool to convert BD subs into VobSub format
...sub bitmaps are maintained at original AR/size, 1920x1080

the mkv (with embedded subs) works just fine using Gabest VobSub DS Filter

I've seen at least one other report of this problem here:-
http://thegreenbutton.com/forums/t/85031.aspx

one other point of note, choosing swscaler gaussian smoothing method makes ZP crash whenever a sub is attemptedly rendered

I can provide the subtitle stream if it will help in debugging this
thanks!

    UPDATE:
still a bug in 3370, however swcaler guassian doesn't seem to crash ZP anymore...
(however the bigger problem of VobSub subs disappearing still occurs)

    Build 3425.
Rendering and placement seems OK, but disappearing subs still happens - seems to be on seeking to an 'inopportune' timecode, or if subs are absent for a while (i.e. noone in the video is talking), they seem to stay off.

    Hi,
I'm experiencing the exact same issue using ffdshow x64 3483.
Few texts are displayed then they are disappearing.

This is still happening, but it seems to be a Windows 7 problem? Before I updated my HTPC from Vista to W7 (32 Bit) subtitles worked fine.
Subtitles do not only disappear, I've got a movie where they got stuck and the same subtitle is displayed for the rest of the movie.
And it can be reproduced, it hppens always at the same place.
It also happens with ripped Blu-Ray subtitles.

It's been almost a year since last comment and i think that this problem has been forgotten because it's not fixed yet. I test every revision coming out and still vobsub subtitles keep disappeaing after a while, mostly if there are no subtitles for a while. They only come back if pressing ffwd, rwd key or manually reposition the movie.

This is still an issue in x64 rev4533 - are there any lookout for a fix?
