Hi Kevin,
The 828 mkI is not supported. We can try to make it work with your help but
theres just a few chance it will work. Only the 828mkII and the Traveler
are supported and other interfaces dont seem to use exactly the same
protocol (including the 892 which was out a few time after the 828).
You can modify motutest by adding the 828s sw version: 0x00000001 and see
what happens.
Note that you have a problem with RT permission. Verify that you have a
real-time kernel and use PAN or the Jonathans setrlimits program or run
motutest as root.
Regards,
François

btw, I recompiled with the following options:
ENABLE_MOTU=1 ENABLE_FIREWORKS=0 ENABLE_BEBOB=0
PREFIX=/home/kddubb/sandbox
...and downloaded and ran the motutest. Here is the output:

Hey all,
I'm interested in trying to see if my MOTU 828 mkI will work with the
current ffado. I've generally compiled ffado and have the Discover test
running however it's not finding any devices. From looking at the mailing
list archives, it seems like this could be because I didn't compile with the
--enable-motu flag or because I haven't added my device configuration to the
list.
Anyway, seems like some of the process for compiling with MOTU's might not
be documented and was just wondering if someone could send a short checklist
of things I should be doing for the MOTU devices so I can make sure I've
done everything as much as possible correctly so I don't waste too much time
chasing stupid config problems.
I'm more than happy to keep using and updating with the latest ffado and
become a tester as I generally use everything as a hobbiest and am trying to
go all linux all the time soon. At work I use all linux, so I'm fairly
comfortable building projects and debugging code. I haven't done much cpp
as I'm mainly a java guy, but am more than willing to learn.
thanks
kddubb
ps. using fedora8 and compiled everything in a sandbox env
