This is one of them. Once we go alpha we'll have to propagate/merge these fixes. Greets, Pieter |

Hi guys A minor observation. I've had communication from someone who's tested svn515 with a MOTU 828MkII. They noticed the following: > Latency is reported to Jack's clients as if the number of period per > buffer was 1. This issue would affect all MOTUs AFAIK - it's not restricted just to the 828MkII although I have not personally verified it with the Traveler. However, I'm wondering whether it's something about the MOTU driver which is doing this or if it's a known FFADO issue which is still being worked on. I note that in the JACK svn all calls to jack_port_set_latency() in the ffado driver are commented out. Now I have no idea how the whole latency reporting thing works in JACK but it seems to me that this might be in some way related. I also see that the freebob driver does call jack_port_set_latency(). My tentative conclusion is that it's a FFADO issue and something which is still being worked on, but I'd like confirmation of this theory. If it is instead a MOTU problem I'll obviously spend some time trying to work it out. Regards jonathan |

my email to presonus. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Michael Lindsey <mblindsey@...> Date: Aug 7, 2007 4:05 PM Subject: FireStudio - Linux Support To: bzell@..., mtwilliams@..., rnaqvi@..., wdevore@..., kbueche@... I have a Presonus FireStudio, and it is a great device. I would love to be able to use it with Linux, but support doesn't currently exist. Apparently, there is an open source effort underway to create a driver for this device. However, it appears that the developers need cooperation from Presonus to complete this task. You can see a discussion at this link: http://sourceforge.net/search/?group_id=192582&words=presonus&type_of_search=mlists&pmode=0&words=firestudio&Search=Search I encourage you to work with these developers. Users like myself tend to be very loyal to companies that provide Linux support. Regards, Michael Lindsey |

The code in SVN only provides support for the DICE evaluation modules that vendors build their products on. It is rather useless for devices like the Kontakt that have extensive customizations. > >> The way things are now they are not going to be part of the first >> FFADO release, which I would like to finish sometime soon. > > Using SVN trunk will be fine by me.. As long as we don't have access to the hardware and to some info regarding the customizations done, we're not able to support a device. Therefore SVN trunk won't help you at the moment. Apparently the people making the decisions at TC Electronic are on holidays at the moment, but next week they should be available again. TC Applied has told me that they would contact me on this next week. Greets, Pieter Palmers |

I have forwarded your email to TC Applied, the company that makes the DICE and that is closely related to TC Electronic. According to them the people at TC are definitely interested in making the device working in Linux. But they can't provide a timeframe for that. The way things are now they are not going to be part of the first FFADO release, which I would like to finish sometime soon. Greets, Pieter Palmers |

Hello, What is the state of affairs of DICE II support? There seems to be sane looking code in the SVN trunk, but no actual devices are listed. Is there something in the works or awaiting hardware or testers? I have a T.C. Konnekt box which I'd like to use in Linux. Regards, Heikki Lindholm |
