Vlad-- This may not be of any solace to you because I cannot offer any advice. However your testimony indeed does assist me in attaining some resolve in my own problem, similar in most respects to yours and to all others who have express similar experiences with that create-community "syndrome" of Fez. While my platform was Windows, as opposed to RedHat, I too had set up the same versions of supporting environments: PHP 5.1.2 (with all extensions), MySQL 5.0, and fedora 2.1. Since I last contacted Christiann Kortekass (spearheading the fez project) last February, I basically have given up, after numerous cvs updates, and after following most of his suggestions (particularly those related to LIBXML2 and to Smarty templates). I have attached the following clippings of previous e-mail dialogs, the content of which, if it might afford you any avail at all, would be worth sharing, if it leads toward the resolution of at least one person's problems: ___________________ __________ Hi Frederick, We have not tested Fez on Apache 2.x, only Apache 1.3 so this could be part of the problem. You could try upgrading the smarty classes to the latest version found on http://smarty.php.net Also we have noticed some versions of libxml2 can have problems: When compiling PHP we have noticed that the PHP5 DOMXPATH class does not work with some versions of LIBXML2. We have successfully tested using DOMXPATH with LIBXML2 version 2.6.16 (on Linux Centos) and 2.6.23 (latest version of LIBXML on Redhat Fedora 4), but it causes a failure in PHP with version 2.6.19 (on Linux Red Hat Fedora 4). We have only tested these three versions so others may work or fail as well. I hope this helps, Christiaan Frederick "Ricky" Douglas Smith wrote: > After I login (admin/admin) and go to the page 'Create New Fedora > Community Display Record', the 'XSD Display Document Types' panel does > not display the available list of xsd's. For that reason, I am reluctant to set up one or more flavors of Linux, just for the sake of the expectation that the problem might go away. Because the Fez team has reported that it has had to channel its resources on matters outside the development of Fez itself, I have no idea of the status of staged releases to address the deluge of reported issues. One point that you stated that has been a sore spot in my failure to get Fez running properly is that this create-community issue does no allow me to test the rest of Fez and to appreciate its robust set of capabilities. At this stage, it is of no use, since there exists no default community even for test-driving the application. I am noticing seemingly fewer and fewer reports from other users concerning this symptom, and to date, I have seen no response from anyone who successfully has tackled the issue (if he or she has had that problem at the start).
