The Fez Development Team is pleased to announce the release of Fez 2.1 (RC1). This release supports Fedora 2.2.x - including Fedora 2.2.4. Roughly 12 months of new functionality has gone into this release. Here are some of the highlights:

* Apache Solr support for faster browsing & searching - easily handles 100,000+ objects

* New controlled vocabularies, including SEO 2008, and Fields of Research (FOR)

* Origami image viewer for easy image inspection

* Lots of new workflows
* Refined content models
* Custom views support
* Performance tweaks and bug fixes
* Major clean-up of templates, CSS, and AJAX components
* New display modes, including image gallery
* Ad-hoc SQL engine for running workflows on arbitrary groups of records
* ORCA feed support
