	Because fetchmail's log reads:

	fetchmail: reading message bil...@po...:5 of 5 (3096 octets) flushed

when there are only 2 messages.

	'Is mail configured to show unread mail as well?'
	No.

	'In fact it is your POP3 or IMAP server that counts messages,
and fetchmail asks it.'
	Okay.  I'm surprised that gmail doesn't get it right.  Thanks
for telling me.
