The problem occurs without using .fetchmailrc.

    $ me=ra...@in...
    $ LC_ALL=C fetchmail -f /dev/null -p imap -l 31415 --ssl \
    >     -u $me --smtpname $me mail27.pair.com
    ...
    reading message ra...@in...@ruis.pair.com:3 of 4 (2104 header octets) (6 body octets) flushed
    ...
    $

That email had the problem.

Have you tried to re-create it yourself?  It's trivial to do AFAICS.
