I run amanda, to hd storage using vtapes.  So backups I have, although 
the storage "depth" is only the last 30 days as the drive space is 
recycled after the 30th day, one days vtape at a time.

And because the mailfile is much slower to access than the maildir, I 
converted it all to maildir years ago.  So thats not a problem, but 
thanks for the reminder.
