I have finally rebased your patch onto 6.3.19, and then merged it for 6.4.0-alpha1 (in Git's next branch, see http://gitorious.org/fetchmail/ for the repositories). I'd like you to look over the changes; specifically I had to initialize "v" in two functions to 0 explicitly to fix compiler warnings.
