Nothing.  A pause, then return to prompt:
fetchmail -v -v -v -c
fetchmail: can't check mail while another fetchmail to same host is running.
[anne@david ~]$ fetchmail --quit
fetchmail: background fetchmail at 6056 killed.
[anne@david ~]$ fetchmail -v -v -v -c
[anne@david ~]$
