[fetchmail-devel] m4 directories?

What is the purpose of the m4 directory? I can only see that is has one
file in it (Makefile.am)?

Also, would it be alright to move the macros from m4-local into one file
(acinclude.m4)? I don't see any need to add a new directory for just one
or a handful of new macros.
