Recompiling the SUSE source rpm with the latest fetchmail turned out to be very straightforward. > - ask your ISP to provide proper SSL certificates Did that, and was told that the current self-signed cert is on the testing rack, and once email is moved to the next setup in a few weeks, externally signed certs will be used, so the problem for me will solve itself.
