(1) The patch I had sent will do that. It will download the mail
again.

(2) To avoid downloading of the mail again, the 'flush' option should
be enabled along with 'no keep'.

(3) As Matthias has pointed out, many mailservers may have UIDs based
on some strictly monotonically increasing counters, so the actual
chance of duplication of UID should be rare. If your mailserver is
doing this, use the 'flush' option with the 'no keep' option.

If not, do not use the 'flush' option and the mail will get downloaded
again (after the patch). Then, no mails will get dropped.
