Feedback on 616, as usual most on usability ;o))
as usual i am better in giving feedback on things.
btw so that I don't forget it - thanks for the fine work :o)
- rename folder
The usual Key for rename is f2
the border left / right is a bit thick
- right-click on taskbar icon, choose close does minimize
instead of closing it.
Option 'minimize on close button' is different
action than this one!
- File 'changes' could display build number after date
so it is easier to keep track of which version is what.
- default ending for opml-files is - opml.
- import opml dialog
(has no cancel button // has no shortcuts)
has irritating structur.
i asume i should browse first, then select, then import.
but I could type in the name of a file and then what?
The dialog itself from top to bottom should lead me
like a wizard. Top comes first, end is last.
On Import does import mean import list for display? import for import?
On [Select all] [Unselect all]
these are two functions, not one!
On Feeds found:
I am missing an indicator that I have already added this feed.
Asume I want to seperate my new feeds - how do I keep track of
which one I have already added?
I would add a "filed in folder" column to 'feeds found' or
a little icon as 'added'
On Close: does close import? before? Where is [ Abort ]?
If not to complicated I would suggest also a "remove selected". Otherwise I
would have to end this import, go to the place where I have added it and
then delete it there if I accidently got one wrong.
To get rid of this litte workarounds, I suggest this kind of dialog:
(// or [// means greyed out. (Only available functions are to be enabled.)
| [ Select all ] [// Unselect all]
| [// reset set place on selected ] [// reset all set places ]
split in two lines for display in this messges, could be one line
Initial display:
# Filename: [ ] [ Browse ]
# [// Import file for display ]
#
# Feeds found:
# place to add to | name | description
# [
#
#
# ]
# [ Select all ] [// Unselect all]
# [// reset set place on selected ] [// reset all set places ]
# File to folder: [//<bottom> ] [//set selected]
# [// Import ] [ Abort ]
# (//Import only adds feeds to selected places, the rest is ignored.)
Focus on: [Browse]
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First step: Either I browse a filenname or I do insert it manually. As soon
as I insert one char, [ Import file for display ] gets enabled.
Then I press [ Import file for display ]
If file contains no feed, message is displayed "no feeds found" (= yes, I
did something but hey, there are no feeds!)
If successfull: Focus on first feed, most of the buttons are enabled now.
# Filename: [ nameoffile ] [Browse]
# [ Import file for display ]
#
# Feeds found:
# place to add to | name | description
# [ < no import> | feed a | description a (selected)
# < no import> | feed b | description b
# < no import> | feed c | description c
# ]
# [ Select all ] [// Unselect all]
# [// reset set place on selected ] [// reset all set places ]
# File to folder: [<end> ] [set for selected feed]
# [// Import ] [ Abort ]
# (Import only adds feeds to selected places, the rest is ignored.)
As soon as
- more than one feed is selected, unselect all is enabled.
- one place is selected, [ reset all set places ] is enabled.
- one feed has a selection, [ reset set place on selected ] is enabled.
- one feed has a selection, [ Import ] is enabled
As soon as
- only one feed is selected, unselect all is disabled.
- no place is selected, [ reset all set places ] is disabled.
- one feed has a selection and no place [ reset set place on selected ]
is disabled.
- no feed has a selection, [ Import ] is disabled.
Notes:
| Feeds found:
| place to add to | name | description
It is called "Feeds found". "Feeds name", "Feeds description" is
redundandent
Where to file, content of dropdownbox, (end) selected on initial
(end)
(top)
(none)
folder a
folder b
folder c
folder d
If I have set everything to my desire, I finally press Import or Abort.
Does someone has a link from where I could test an import?
The ones from http://www.rss-verzeichnis.de won't work nor the one from
feedreader itself.
