Refresh Rate: Never Not Working

There are some feeds which one doesn't need to monitor and it was nice to find, under the properties of each individual feed, an option to set the refresh rate to other than the default refresh rate. However, after setting this to never on a number of feeds, they seem to ignore the setting and keep on refreshing at what seems to be the default rate. Does anyone know what is happening here. Thanks for any input!
