#48 "directly show headline link" doesn't open news:msgid links

I have a feed with article links pointing to usenet
articles (try
http://www.bitfolge.de/scripts/nntp2rss.php\). An
example for such a link is
news:f177f47492453fa4f48396ebb905ded5%
40news.meganetnews.com, which opens OK when
pasted into the browser's URL field. When I left click the
article title in Feedreader's upper right pane, nothing
happens.
If I don't check "directly show headline link" and click
the link that is displayed in the lower right pane, the link
is opened in my news client as it is supposed to. The
feed's homepage link (which is news:comp.lang.php)
also works.
Both of these URL formats are specified in RFC 1738,
Chap. 3.6 (see
http://www.w3.org/Addressing/rfc1738.txt\).
