Welcome to FeBMC!

Disclamer

Note that security is not a big consideration for this project! It is intended to run at home's desktop or HTPC, or wherever you can get your laptop. Hence no firewall, disabled SELinux and no other security attempts. FeBMC is designed to be easy to use and maintenance-free. Of course in the future i may consider hardening it in some way. But not before bootconfigurator is ready.
You have been warned.

What is FeBMC?

It's a Linux distribution based on Fedora with XBMC as UI. It's not configured nor it has its own configurators, so you will need to do it by yourself. As for now anyway.

How do i download it?

You can't yet - it's still work in progress. For now there is script in repository that creates and installs FeBMC on drive (either pendrive, hdd or any block device). Note: this is not "live os" - you get normal Fedora distribution, with possibility to install packages and create users.

Why the boot name is 'Generic'?

That is default Fedora's approach for remixes. It's pointless now to derive own logo (i have an idea though - something with Fedora, Iron and XBMC) or customize packages. Although this will be done. Someday...

On which architectures does it run?

Currently on i386, but i plan to create Raspberry Pi image - as soon as there is xbmc in fedora's package for it (or as soon as i will compile it myself), and i'll buy MPEG-2 codec license.

I hear no sound!

Sorry. There's no configurator for this yet. FeBMC uses ALSA for sound. Probably setting options in xmbc itself should be enough.

How can i change system language / time zone?

In xbmc. As for now there's no configurator for this.

How can i use WiFi?

For the first time you need to switch to console mode (CTRL-ALT-F1), login as root and type nmcli d wlan0 wifi connect <SSID>. There's no need to repeat this step after next reboot.
