FCut, the first open-source CNC foam cutting software has made it first functional release. This version will take an airfoil description (.dat files) and drive parallel port outputs. Stepper motors connected to the parallel port will move a hot-wire and cut the foam to the airfoil described.

The software will automatically compensate for differing kerf values (the different size cuts the wire will make in the foam at different speeds), will graphically show the path the wire will take, provide details on instantaneous speed and position, and control the wire heat (provided suitable hardware is available).
