Region

Sven Mostböck

Regions are the basis for all gates.

  • FCSalyzer only uses polygonal regions in dot plots; there are no square / circle / elliptic regions in dot plots or marker regions in histograms (yet).
  • Regions are drawn into a plot using the Regions-tool in the menu bar icons.
  • Regions are specific for each document and apply to all plots of that document.
  • Regions can be copied from one dot plot to another, which means that the borders of the region are drawn in that dot plot.
  • Regions can be copied into other documents that are open in the same FCSalyzer instance.
  • Regions can be changed after creation. Use the "Selection" tool in the menu bar icons, then click and drag on the region to move it, or double click to change specific corners of the polygon.
  • Regions are deleted by selecting them in the plot and using "Delete" in the "Edit" menu or pressing the "del" key. They can also be deleted in the "Data Files - Edit Regions/Gates" dialog.
  • Regions can be renamed in the "Edit Regions / Gates" dialog of the "Data Files" menu by clicking on the field "Region Name". Not all names are allowed. You can't use "and", "or", "not", a name already used as a gate or region name, or quotes or parentheses in names.
  • The name of the region is also drawn in the dot plot. This name can be moved to another position in the dot using the "Selection" tool.
