Right now the CKEditor API allows button text visibility to be toggled globally only. But the default CKeditor configuration has a few buttons like Source, Help with text buttons. How can the same be achieved for a custom button that I added to CKEditor? |

Greets. I created a ticket requesting for an event/functionality that would allow developers to create context menus for CKE easier. I figured out how to get the sources and I made the changes needed but I don't know how to commit them to the git dev for checking / approval / review / whatever. Is there a guide for idiots on how to do that? A really detailed guide would be preferred (no actual git experience here). The ticket is https://dev.ckeditor.com/ticket/10066 and it contains the sources that I got this to work with (it was very simple) but I don't know what to do now. - Joel |

Hi All I have had a year- long headache with ckeditor and it changing my CF code. I got around the issue for a while by using a straight text area to enter code in the DB. Now other users will be using the system and I need to get the text editor to work. I STILL have not been able to figure out how to stop this thing from editing my CF code and I am beyond frustrated with it. I tried installing tinyMCE (sp?) and it did the same thing. Has anyone installed and used ckeditor properly with Coldfusion to where it is keeping your CF code in tact? Would you be willing to share your config files PLEASE! Thank you! |

Hi Nestor, The FCKeditor extension for MediaWiki is no longer supported (see http://mediawiki.fckeditor.net/). If you have simply downloaded CKEditor (the editor) from http://ckeditor.com/download and are trying to enable it in MediaWiki just by adding require_once("$IP/extensions/ckeditor/ckeditor.php"); then it will not work, because it is "just" an editor, not a MediaWiki extension. Did anyone get this email? Comments? Does anyone still use this list? Should I post these ramblings and have this discussion on the forum instead? From: Scott McNaught [Synergy 8] [mailto:sco...@sy...] Sent: Tuesday, 2 February 2010 12:50 AM To: 'fck...@li...' Subject: Few Suggestions Regarding Plugins Hi guys, I have a few suggestions for the plugins architecture for ckeditor. I think that everything in the plugins folder should be hierarchical and self contained. --- Plugins Folder Nesting --- With the plugins folder, I sometimes find it a bit unintuitive having no hierarchy and all the plugins in one big folder. I think with time, this folder is going to blow out to be massive. I suggest having folders like: · plugins/ui o plugins/ui/button o plugins/ui/richcombo · plugins/elements o plugins/elements/image o plugins/elements/flash o plugins/elements/table § plugins/elements/forms/table/properties § plugins/elements/forms/table/tools · plugins/custom o plugins/custom/sometag Then later on, it would be cool later on to make a builder script on the ckeditor site that allows you to tick on various features, and it goes and looks up the dependencies and runs the ckpackager on the server according to your selection. Similar to the mootools builder (http://mootools.net/more) --- Languages in Plugin Folder --- I think each plugin should have its own lang folder. When developing on localhost, the client can just make a whole heap more http requests for each plugin to get the lang file. The ckpackager can then merge and compile them into the same lang/en-au.js style files that exist currently, but only for the plugins in ckeditor.pack. --- Icons in Plugin Folder --- Each plugin should have its own icons folder as well. Perhaps with a sub folder for each skin. When developing on localhost, again the client just makes a lot more http requests to get the images. But when packaged, the icons.png file and the icons.css file have been dynamically generated by ckpackager and load the same way as it currently works. Fredck, if you would like, I am happy to implement and contribute some of these changes. Regards, Scott McNaught http://www.synergy8.com/ |

Morning, We are switching to CKEditor 3.x from TinyMCE in TangoCMS, however we don't need all the plugins available which are in ckeditor.js. I've googled around and found CKPackager which as you already know, allows us to disable plugins (such as 'about') and create a new ckeditor.js without these plugins. However, when we use this new ckeditor.js (after editing ckeditor.pack to remove the 'about' plugin), FireBug is showing that CKEditor is trying to load 'about.js', and is causing the following error: > uncaught exception: [CKEDITOR.resourceManager.load] Resource name "about" > was not found at > "http://localhost/tangocms/git-tangocms/assets/js/ckeditor/plugins/about/pl >ugin.js?t=A06B". > > Line 0 Why is CKEditor still trying to load about.js even when removed? -- Regards, Alex Cartwright http://tangocms.org - Powerful. Simple. Secure. |

Hi All, Just one short information about FCKeditor-Trac mailing list. Anyone signed up to this list received notifications about new tickets. Along with the new version of CKEditor, web sites, domains and so on, we've decided to move Trac mailing list to Google Groups: http://groups.google.pl/group/ckeditor-tickets You can easily join this group by opening the URL above and clicking on a "Join this group" link. After joining, you can be automatically notified about everything what's happening on our development site (new tickets, comments to the tickets). Hello everybody, this is my first post to this list, please let me tell you why I am posting. Approx. 5 years ago I've started to develop a content management system because I was fed up with doing the same tasks over and over again when I was creating new websites. I've developed a cms that had a simple WYSIWYG editor to edit the contents and the design around the contents was realised with Smarty templates. The main focus was on multilanguage support and usability, which I think was reached. A few years ago I discovered FCKeditor, which offered way more possibilities than my own WYSIWYG editor, especially the functions for creating and editing tables were fascinating. I tried to realise somethings similar but got stuck with the development. A few days ago I successfully integrated FCKeditor into my cms to test it out, but I reached a point where I cannot deceide how to proceed. On the one hand I like a lot of features on the other I am missing a few my editor offered. What I am missing: - when uploading images I'd like to create thumbnails and "normal" images at a given size, but also keep the originals (e.g. for downloading). Version 2.x only changes the height and width values of the image but doesn't create thumbnails. This could be a problem, when you have a customer who is working with really big images (5-6MB, 300dpi, etc.). As I saw, this is not possible with the 2.x version, how about v3? - my editor uses the CSS files of the given site, it extracts the formatting information from the css definitions. Let's say you have 3 headings definied, then these defintions are loaded into a dropdown menue and you can choose from them when you are typing in the editor. This is available for every customer with the same code in the background, you just have to change the CSS files - what you'd do anyway when you design the website. This feature is also available for links, you can use individual styles for images, and so on. Is something similar available in 2.x or v3? Thanks for tanking the time to read this - and sorry for the overhead...;) Cheers, Balazs |

Hi Scott, I've tried this one in the past, with no useful results. I've also heard only bad things about it. I think there is no perfect solution for it out there. You may have some results with Drip and sIEve, but I would not expect them magically helping solving all issue. Only good coding practices can really help here. Hi there, We would be happy to take this task and help you. We have still strong plans for MediaWiki support, but the fact is that we're totally overloaded as we're in the final development phase of CKEditor 3.0. We'll still be quite busy during the next few months because of it. I think it'll be hard to find people in the FCKeditor community that could help you on this. Not all of them are aware about the FCKeditor+MediaWiki complexities. Maybe you could have better results with the MW community instead. For example, you may try contacting Wikia or others that are interested in our project. We'll still be watching your evolution there, and I really hope we'll be able to give you some help in the future, to make FCKeditor (or even better CKEditor) a reality inside wikiHow.
