Spraying

Within the spraying tab, you can:

  • enter a backpack spraying record (Backpack Spraying->Input Form)
  • view a backpack spraying report (Backpack Spraying->Report)
  • enter a tractor spraying record (Tractor Spraying->Input Form)
  • view a tractor spraying report (Tractor Spraying->Report)
  • edit and delete tractor spraying records (Tractor Spraying->Edit/Delete) (administrative users only)

Within the backpack spraying report, administrative users can edit and delete records.

Before the spraying tab can be used, an administrative user must have entered:

  • fields
  • spray materials
  • crops

The Backpack Spraying and Tractor Spraying tabs are both optional.

Backpack Spraying (optional tab)

Input Form

To use the input form:

  • select the spray date
  • select the field in which spraying will occur
  • select the gallons of water put into the sprayer
  • select the spray material
  • select the spray rate
  • FARMDATA will automatically calculate and suggest the amount of material to use
  • enter the amount of material actually used (required)
  • enter any additional materials mixed into the sprayer
  • select the crops sprayed, using the "Add Crop" and "Remove Crop" buttons as needed to add and remove crops
  • enter any comments
  • click "Submit"
  • confirm data correctness by clicking "OK", or "Cancel" to modify any aspect of the backpack spraying record
Report

To run a backpack spraying report:

  • select a date range
  • select the material sprayed (or All)
  • select the field sprayed (or All)
  • select the crop sprayed (or All)
  • click "Submit"
  • FARMDATA will then display a table of all backpack spraying records that satisfy the selected parameters. The table will be followed by the total gallons of water used. If you choose a specific material, this will be followed by the total amount of that material used.
  • administrative users can edit and delete backpack spraying records

    • to delete a backpack spraying record, click the "Delete" button next to that record
    • to edit a backpack spraying record:

      • click the "Edit" button next to that record
      • in the resulting page, modify an aspect of the record that needs to be updated
      • click "Update Record"
  • if desired, use the "Download Report" button to download the report as a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that can be opened as a spreadsheet.

Tractor Spraying (optional tab)

Input Form

To use the input form:

  • select the spray date
  • select spray status: "Completed" if you are entering records for spray jobs that have already been done or are in progress, or "Queued" for entering instructions for spray jobs to be done later
  • use the "Add Field" button to add all fields to be sprayed. For each field:
    • select the field
    • select the number of beds to be sprayed
    • FARMDATA will calculate the acreage sprayed in each field
    • select the crops to be sprayed, using the "Add Crop" and "Remove Crop" button to add and remove crops as needed.
  • use the "Add Material" button to add all materials to be mixed in the spray tank. For each material:
    • select the material
    • select the spray rate
    • FARMDATA will automatically calculate and suggest the amount of material to use
    • enter the amount of material actually used (required)
    • the PPE displays the Personal Protective Equipment needed for handling this material
    • observe the Restricted Entry Interval (REI) for this material after spraying
  • enter the gallons of water to be used per acre
  • FARMDATA will calculate the amount of water to put into the sprayer
  • enter any comments
  • click "Submit"
  • confirm data correctness by clicking "OK", or "Cancel" to modify any aspect of the tractor spraying record
Report

To run a tractor spraying report:

  • select a date range
  • select the field sprayed (or All)
  • select the material sprayed (or All)
  • select the crop sprayed (or All)
  • select whether to show the spray queue. If you select "No", only records for completed spray jobs will be shown in the report. If you select "Yes", only records for queued spray jobs will be shown.
  • click "Submit"
  • FARMDATA will then display a table of all tractor spraying records that satisfy the selected parameters.
  • If you chose not to show the spray queue:
    • if you chose a specific material, the report will be followed by the total amount of that material used, and the average amount of material used per spraying session. Note that you can find these values for a particular field by selecting that field as well as the material.
    • if desired, use the "Download Report" button to download the report as a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that can be opened as a spreadsheet.
  • If you chose to show the spray queue:
    • the instructions for each spray job that satisfies the selected parameters will be shown.
    • as you complete each spray job, enter your initials and click "Done"
    • this marks the spray job as complete, removing it from the spray queue and adding it to the records for completed spray jobs
Edit/Delete (optional tab, administrative users only)

To edit or delete a tractor spraying record:

  • select a date range
  • click "Submit"
  • FARMDATA will display a table of all tractor spraying records that satisfy the selected parameters.
  • to delete a tractor spraying record, click the "Delete" button next to that record
  • to edit a tractor spraying record:

    • click the "Edit" button next to that record
    • in the resulting page, modify an aspect of the record that needs to be updated
    • click "Update Record"
