Within the scouting tab, you can:
- enter an insect scouting record (Insect->Input Form)
- view an insect scouting report (Insect->Report)
- enter a weed scouting record (Weed->Input Form)
- view a weed scouting report (Weed->Report)
- enter a disease scouting record (Disease->Input Form)
- view a disease scouting report (Disease->Report)
Within each report, administrative users can edit and delete records.
Before the scouting tab can be used, an administrative user must have entered:

For insect scouting:
- fields
- crops
- insect species

For weed scouting:

For disease scouting:
- fields
- crops
- disease species
The Insect, Weed and Disease tabs are all optional.
Insect (optional tab)
To enter an insect scouting record:
- select the date
- select the field
- select the insect species
- select the crops scouted, using the "Add Crop" and "Remove Crop" buttons as needed to add and remove crops
- select the number of plants sampled - that is, the number of plants that you will count all of the insects of the selected species on.
- for each plant sampled, count the number of insects on the plant and enter this information into FARMDATA. Use the "Add Sample" and "Remove Sample" buttons as needed to add and remove sampled plants.
- FARMDATA will calculate the average number of insects per plant.
- upload an image associated with the scouting record (optional). Note that image files are limited to 2 MB.
- if labor tracking is enabled, enter the number of workers and time taken (select minutes or hours). Note that the form will automatically time scouting tasks - if you open the form when you start scouting, the time in the "Enter time" box will increase by one for each minute that the form is open. This time will then be submitted when you click "Submit".
- enter any comments
- click "Submit"
- confirm data correctness by clicking "OK", or "Cancel" to modify any aspect of the insect scouting record
Report
To run an insect scouting report:
- select a date range
- select a field (or All)
- select a crop (or All)
- select an insect species (or All)
- click "Submit"
- FARMDATA will then display a table of all insect scouting records that satisfy the selected parameters.

if desired, use the "Download Report" button to download the report as a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that can be opened as a spreadsheet.
Weed (optional tab)
To enter a weed scouting record:
- select the date

use the "Add Species" button to add each weed species observed in each field scouted. For each species and field:
- select the field
- select the weed species
- select the infestation level (0 = no infestation, 3 = most severe infestation)
- select the percentage of the weeds that have gone to seed

upload an image associated with the scouting record (optional). Note that image files are limited to 2 MB.
- if labor tracking is enabled, enter the number of workers and time taken (select minutes or hours).
