Harvest

Tim Wahls

Within the harvest tab, you can:

  • enter a harvest record (Input Form)
  • view a harvest report (Report)
  • view a harvest list (Harvest List) (optional tab)

Within the harvest report, administrative users can edit and delete harvest records.

Before the harvest tab can be used, an administrative user must have entered:

  • fields
  • harvest units
  • crops

Additionally, a crop can only be harvested from a field in which it has been seeded (via direct seeding or transplanting) in the same year as the harvest.

Input Form

To use the input form:

  • select the harvest date
  • select the harvest crop
  • click "Add Field" to add all fields that this crop was harvested from on this date. You must select the crop before adding fields, as a crop can only be harvested from fields that it is planted in (in the current year).
    • select the field
    • enter the yield in any of the available units
    • if labor tracking is enabled, enter the number of workers and time taken
    • time can be entered in hours or minutes as selected at the top of the column
  • if generation id numbers are enabled, select the generation #
  • enter any comments about the harvest
  • click "Submit"
  • confirm data correctness by clicking "OK", or "Cancel" to modify any aspect of the harvest record

Report

To run a harvest report:

  • select a date range
  • select a crop (or All)
  • select a field (or All)
  • if generation id numbers are enabled, select the generation # (or All)
  • click "Submit"
  • FARMDATA will then display a table of all harvest records that satisfy the selected parameters. If you choose a specific crop, the table will be followed by total and average yields for that crop for the specified date range, the total hours spent harvesting and the hours per unit harvested. If you choose a specific crop and a specific field, the total and average yields and hours are for that field only. If you choose a specific generation, only data for that generation is shown and any total and average yield and hour calculations are for that generation only.
  • administrative users can edit and delete harvest records

    • to delete a harvest record, click the "Delete" button next to that record
    • to edit a harvest record:
      • click the "Edit" button next to that record
      • in the resulting page, modify an aspect of the record that needs to be updated
      • click "Update Record"
  • if desired, use the "Download Report" button to download the report as a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that can be opened as a spreadsheet.

Harvest List (optional tab)

If an administrative user has created a harvest list (harvesting plan) for a particular day, you can access it by selecting that day. Using the harvest list, you can:

  • view the harvest plan
  • track progress toward meeting harvest goals (in the Harvested column)
  • enter a harvest record by clicking on the name of a crop. If you enter a harvest record in this manner, the harvest input form will have a link for returning to the harvest list.
  • choose whether to see a detailed harvest list (separate harvest goals for each sales target), or a summary harvest list (total harvest goal only)
  • enter a comment that all other users viewing the harvest list will see. Click the "Add Comment" button to enter a comment.
  • use the "Download Harvest LIst" button to download the harvest list as a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that can be opened as a spreadsheet.
