Within the cover crop tab, you can:
- enter a cover crop seeding record (Seeding->Input Form)
- view a cover crop seeding report (Seeding->Report)
- enter a cover crop incorporation record (Incorporation->Input Form)
- view a cover crop incorporation report (Incorporation->Report)
Within each report, administrative users can edit and delete records.
Before the cover crop tab can be used, an administrative user must have entered:
- fields
- cover crops
- tractor(s)
- tools (tillage implements)
Additionally, a cover crop can only be incorporated in a field in which it was seeded.
Cover Crop Seeding
To use the input form:
- select the seeding date
- select the field
- select the percentage of the field to be seeded
- select the seeding method (drill or other)
- select the tool used to incorporate the seed
- select the tractor used
- select the number of tillage passes over the field
- select the minutes spent in the field (seeding and seed incorporation)
- use the "Add Row" button to add each of the cover crop species seeded. For each species:
- select the species name
- select the seeding rate (lbs./acre)
- FARMDATA will automatically calculate the amount of seed to plant
- enter any comments
- click "Submit"
- confirm data correctness by clicking "OK", or "Cancel" to modify any aspect of the cover crop seeding record
Report
To run a cover crop seeding report:
- select a date range
- select a field (or All)
- click "Submit"
- FARMDATA will then display a table of all cover crop seeding records that satisfy the selected parameters, along with the total area seeded and the amount of each crop seeded (in pounds). Note that you can find these totals for a particular field by selecting that field.

if desired, use the "Download Report" button to download the report as a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that can be opened as a spreadsheet.
Incorporation
To use the input form:
- select the incorporation date
- select the field
- select the seeding date for the area you are incorporating
- FARMDATA will find and display the cover crops seeded in that field on that date
- add biomass calculations
- to measure biomass, remove and weigh all plant material in a four square foot area of the field
- for greater accuracy, repeat this process several times in different areas of the field and let FARMDATA calculate the average biomass (enter each measurement and click "Calculate")
- select the tool used to incorporate the cover crop
- select the tractor used
- select the number of tillage passes over the field
- select the percentage of the field tilled
- enter any comments
- click "Submit"
- confirm data correctness by clicking "OK", or "Cancel" to modify any aspect of the cover crop incorporation record
Report
To run a cover crop incorporation report:
- select a date range
- select a field (or All)
- click "Submit"
- FARMDATA will then display a table of all cover crop incorporation records that satisfy the selected parameters, along with the total biomass incorporated and the average biomass incorporated per incorporation record. Note that you can find the total for a particular field by selecting that field.
