Backdater

Tim Wahls

The Backdater provides a spreadsheet-style interface for bulk entry of direct planting, tray seeding, transplanting and harvesting data. The Backdater is available to administrative users only. Note that in the Backdater, trays are referred to as flats.

To use the backdater:

  • select the table for data entry
  • in the resulting interface:

    • fill in a data entry row exactly as you would in the corresponding input form
    • use the "New Row" button to create a new data entry row
    • use the "Copy Last Row" button to copy the last data entry row (including all values that have been entered into that row)
    • at the end of each data entry row:

      • use the "Delete" button to delete that row
      • use the "Copy" button to copy that row
  • when all data entry rows are completed as desired, click the "Submit Data to Database" button.

  • FARMDATA will check that you have provided all required data and that numeric fields contain only numbers.
  • If there are any data entry errors, FARMDATA will report them and return you to the Backdater so that you can correct them.
  • If there are no errors, all data entry rows will be entered into the database.

If you switch to a different table before clicking the "Submit Data to Database" button, any data that you have entered will be lost. FARMDATA will not allow you to make such a switch unless you confirm that you wish to do so.
