Add

Within the Add tab, an administrative user can:

  • create or edit a harvest list (Harvest List) (optional tab)
  • add a crop (Crop)
  • add equipment (Equipment)
  • add basic data for the Soil tab (Soil) (optional tab)
  • add basic data for the Sales tab (Sales) (optional tab)
  • add other basic data (Other)

Harv List (optional tab)

Before creating a harvest list, an administrative user must have entered:

  • crops
  • sales targets

To add or edit a harvest list (harvest plan for a particular day):

  • select the date
  • click "Submit"
  • if no harvest list for the date exists, FARMDATA will create one.

In the next input page:

  • For each crop to be added to the harvest list:

    • select the crop
    • select the unit to harvest that crop in
    • enter the field to harvest from (can be a list of fields, storage area, ...)
    • enter a harvest goal for each sales target (0 if no harvest for a particular target)
    • click "Submit"
    • the crop will be added to the harvest list
    • if you select the same crop again later, the input form will pre-fill with the data you entered earlier. Edit this data as you wish and click "Submit" to replace the previous harvest list entry for this crop.
  • In the table that displays the current harvest list, you can delete a crop from the harvest list using the "Delete" button.

  • If desired, use the "Download Harvest List" button to download the harvest list as a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file that can be opened as a spreadsheet.
  • To add a note to a harvest list, type the note in the "Add Notes" box and click "Update Notes". You can add to this note or edit it later - just click "Update Notes" when you are finished. These notes will be visible to anyone who views the harvest list under the Harvest tab.

Crop

Within this tab, an administrative user can:

  • add a new crop (Crop)
  • add a new harvest unit (Harvest Unit)
  • add a harvest unit to a crop (Unit to Crop)
Crop

To add a new crop:

  • enter the crop name
  • select the default harvest unit for the crop (if the unit you wish to use is not available, add it using the harvest unit tab first)
  • if the invoice tab has been selected:

    • select the invoice unit
    • enter the units per case for invoices
  • click "Add"

Harvest Unit

To add a new harvest unit:

  • enter the unit name
  • click "Submit"
Unit to Crop

To add a new harvest unit to a crop:

  • select the crop
  • FARMDATA will display the default unit for the crop
  • select the new unit to add
  • enter the conversion factor from the new unit to the default unit. For example, if the default unit is "QUART" and the new unit is "PINT", the conversion factor should be 2.
  • click "Submit"

Equipment

Within this tab, an administrative user can:

  • add a new tractor (Tractor) (optional tab)
  • add a new tillage implement (Tool) (optional tab)
  • add a new tray size (Tray)
  • add a new irrigation device (Irr. Device) (optional tab)
Tractor (optional tab)

To add a new tractor:

  • enter the tractor name
  • click "Add"
Tool (optional tab)

To add a new tool:

  • enter the tool name
  • select whether the tool will be used for incorporation (of compost or cover crop seeds)
  • click "Add"
Tray

To add a new tray size:

  • enter the size (number of cells)
  • click "Add"
Irr. Device (optional tab)

To add a new irrigation device:

  • enter the irrigation device name
  • click "Add"

Soil (optional tab)

Within this tab, an administrative user can enter all base data related to the soil tab.

Fertilizer (optional tab)

Within this tab, an administrative user can enter dry and liquid fertilizer materials.

Dry Fertilizer (optional tab)

To enter a new dry fertilizer:

  • enter the fertilizer name
  • click "Add"
Liquid Fertilizer (optional tab)

To enter a new liquid fertilizer:

  • enter the fertilizer name
  • click "Add"
Spray Material (optional tab)

To enter a new spray material (for backpack and/or tractor spraying):

  • enter the material name
  • enter the units used when measuring the material for tractor spraying (mixing in the spray tank)
  • enter the minimum tractor spray rate (in units/acre)
  • enter the maximum tractor spray rate (in units/acre)
  • enter the default tractor spray rate (in units/acre)
  • enter the units used when measuring the material for backpack spraying
  • enter the minimum backpack spray rate (in units/gallon)
  • enter the maximum backpack spray rate (in units/gallon)
  • enter the default backpack spray rate (in units/gallon)
  • enter the restricted entry interval (in hours)
  • enter a comma separated list of personal protection equipment
  • click "Add"
Cover Crop (optional tab)

To add a new cover crop species:

  • enter the species name
  • enter the minimum rate for drill seeding (lbs/acre)
  • enter the maximum rate for drill seeding (lbs/acre)
  • enter the minimum rate for broadcast seeding (lbs/acre)
  • enter the maximum rate for broadcast seeding (lbs/acre)
  • check the "Legume?" box if the crop is a legume
  • click "Add"
Compost (optional tab)

Within this tab, an administrator can enter base data for compost.

Pile

To add a new compost pile:

  • enter the Pile ID (name)
  • enter any comments
  • click "Add"
Activity

To add a new compost activity beyond the ones pre-supplied with FARMDATA:

  • enter the activity
  • click "Add"
Material

To add a new compost material:

  • enter the material name
  • click "Add"
Unit

To add a new compost unit (for measuring additions to compost piles, i.e. tractor bucket):

  • enter the unit
  • click "Add"
Conversion

To add a new conversion from a compost unit for a given material to pounds and cubic yards:

  • select the material name
  • select the compost unit
  • enter the conversion to pounds for that material and unit
  • enter the conversion to cubic yards for that material and unit
  • click "Add"
Species (optional tab)

Within this tab, an administrative user can enter insect, weed and disease species (for scouting).

Insect (optional tab)

To enter a new insect species:

  • enter the species name
  • click "Add"
Weed (optional tab)

To enter a new weed species:

  • enter the species name
  • click "Add"
Disease (optional tab)

To enter a new disease:

  • enter the disease name
  • click "Add"

Sales (optional tab)

Within this tab, an administrator can enter base data for sales and invoicing. Additionally, the sales targets used in the harvest list are entered here.

Product

To add a new product:

  • enter the product name
  • enter the product default unit (each, pound, ...)
  • enter the invoice unit
  • enter the units per case for invoicing
  • click "Add"
Sales Target

To add a new sales target (CSA, Market, ...):

  • enter the target name
  • enter the prefix to be used for invoice numbers for this target
  • click "Add"
Target Email

To associate a new email address with an existing sales target for invoice distribution (note that multiple email addresses can be associated with the same target):

  • select the target
  • enter the new email address
  • click "Add"
Farm Email

To add a new email address to the distribution list for all invoices for the farm:

  • enter the email address
  • click "Add"

Other

Within this tab, an administrative user can add a new user, field or labor task.

User

To add a new user:

  • enter the username
  • enter the new user's password
  • re-enter the new user's password
  • select whether the new user is a FARMDATA administrator
  • click "Submit"
Field

To add a new field:

  • enter the field ID (name)
  • enter the length of the longest bed (i.e. the length of the longest side of the field that runs parallel to the beds)
  • if needed, adjust the bed spacing
  • enter the field size in acres
  • FARMDATA will automatically calculate the number of beds. Unless the field is perfectly rectangular, the number of beds will not be an integer. Using a fractional number of beds compensates for non-rectangular fields. You can edit the number of beds, but we suggest using the value that FARMDATA calculates.
  • click "Submit"
Labor Task (optional tab)

To add a new labor:

  • enter the task name
  • click "Submit"
