FAN is based on CentOS 5, but it is retired on this March. Please refer to the answer of TrevorH in the following forum: yum fails https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=62106 It should be helpful.

  • gouldchu gouldchu posted a comment on discussion Help

You are welcome. According to my experience, FAN in either physical server or vm is stable. Because CentOS 5 is retired, CES 3.2 is a great alternative: https://download.centreon.com/ I don't suggest 3.3 or 3.4 at present. Some original configuration is removed, though I can rebuild myself. You may give all these versions a try, and decide which one to implement. Good luck to you

  • alex.tostaky alex.tostaky posted a comment on discussion Help

I was considering putting FAN on a physical server to test its stability. But I lose the flexibility of the weekly backup with VEEAM Backup. I have a dozen virtual machines under Linux. It is the only one that is unstable. Hopefully this is it! Thank you

  • gouldchu gouldchu posted a comment on discussion Help

I'm afraid not, but CES (Centreon Enterprise Server) is based on CentOS 6. You may give it a try.

  • gouldchu gouldchu posted a comment on discussion Help

The built-in Centreon plugins can fulfill many common requirements. For your request, the built-in "check_centreon_snmp_traffic" should be good enough. Please refer to the following article: Nagios script to check traffic on switches/routers http://www.kernel-overload.com/nagios-script-to-check-traffic-on-switchesrouters/

It seems not easy to troubleshoot according to limited clue. Is there any firewall rule blocking the connection between your Windows and FAN? If so, please tune the rule to allow the connection. If not, would you please follow the following documentation and try to install FAN again? http://www.fullyautomatednagios.org/documentation/ Correct installation and configuration should make FAN work quite so well for you. Good luck!

  • gouldchu gouldchu posted a comment on discussion Help

Would you consider building another FAN 2.4 on a dedicated server, or a virtual machine in ESXi? And then you may backup your current FAN, and restore it to your new FAN. Pure Linux or VM is quite stable.

  • gouldchu gouldchu posted a comment on discussion Help

FAN is based on CentOS 5. I suppose this issue is caused by CentOS 5 retirement. Please refer to the following forums: [SOLVED] Yum update errno 14 http error 404: not found https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=62090 CentOS 5 - is now End of Life https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=57398 Now that it's impossible to upgrade from CentOS 5 to 6 or 7. The easiest way is to install CES. It's based on CentOS 6.
