I just tried to backup a DVD with fair use, but when I create a new project it ask me to choose the drive from which to extract data. Unfortunately the DVD drive doesn't show in the list.
The DVD is a Sony DRX-510UL.
Its connected to my computer via USB 2.0 its also offer Firewire and i.LINK interface.

I have exactly the same problem with this Sony Drive. I am running WinXP (32 bit) and have tried the ATAPI.SYS from a clean install and ATAPI.SYS version and 5.1.2600.1135. A work around for me would be to skip the DVD check which would allow the processing of project files on the network that are ripped with FU on a machine with a non USB drive.

Thanks I will try this. I there any way I can backup from a DVD in Sony USB2 drive on this local system. FU reports that there are no DVD drives on the system.

Well I've been ripping quite a few of my DVDs with this and it is great. I cannot however access my Sony USB2 drive. I rip on another slow machine that has an IDE drive and then process on the fast machine using a mapped drive where the FU files are. This is still slower than need be because the input and output files must cross the network. Any thoughts on how I can get FU to see my Sony 510 or otherwise rip and process on my fast machine?
Thanks

Try mounting the DVD onto a virtual drive, FairUse will recognize the virtual drive. From that point you can complete the project as you normally would.
CloneCD, and CloneDVD have virtual drive capability, try one of those.

Hi,
if you're running under Win9x you have to install ASPI.
I have exactly the same problem with this Sony Drive. I am running WinXP (32 bit) and have tried the ATAPI.SYS from a clean install and ATAPI.SYS version and 5.1.2600.1135. On Win2K/XP the ASPI layer is not used, FU uses the internal STPI layer (ASPI-like).
To use a project ripped from another drive, you should simply open an existing project rather than creating a new one.
