Please excuse what may be a dumb question, or one previously answered, because I am unable to find an answer.
I just installed fail2ban and all seems to be working fine. My question is this: how and where are the banned IPs stored? I assume a file somewhere contains the IP and most likely the time or period to be banned, but don't know. Would appreciate it if someone would let me know.

well -- that is where they are logged. Otherwise they are stored only
within (in RAM) of a running instance of fail2ban-server, and could be
queried via fail2ban-client status JAIL
