FreeTrack2.0

FreeTrack 2.0 protocol

The developers of the 'other' free headtracker FreeTrack implemented the FreeTrack protocol. This protocol is basically the same as the TrackIR protocol, but without all the protective measures. So this makes this protocol 'truly free': every headtracker- and game-developer can use it, without restrictions.

The devs of FreeTrack seem to have stopped developing their product and the FaceTrackNoIR Team found that it was time to upgrade the protocol. So we translated the original Delphi-Pascal code into C++ and adapted it to our requirements: 64-bit support and full TrackIR support in one protocol.

If you have questions, remarks or compliments you want to share with us, please post them here: [discussion:freetrack]

Game Developers already supporting the FreeTrack protocol

A few very large game-developers have realized that free head-tracking is important and that a monopoly of 'some developer' is not desirable. We are very pleased that these game-developers are supporting alternative head-tracking and encourage others to do the same.

Bohemia Interactive

The developers of Armed Assault (ArmA), Take on Helicopters a.o.

Egosoft

Developers of X3: Albion Prelude etc.

Eagle Dynamics

Developers of the legendary DCS series, including DCS A-10C, Blackshark etc. ED has implemented an alternative head-tracker interface. The FaceTrackNoIR Team has developed an interface for this.

Settings

The Settings-screen of FreeTrack 2.0 looks like this:

The descriptions in the picture are pretty self-explanatory. Please post any questions about FreeTrack 2.0 in the forum.
