I used Google to translate the french in the above link to english, but with FTNOIR 1.7 everything is different. There is no "headtracker.xml" as described in he FTNOIR installation.
So I failed to get it to work with FlightGear 2.8.0.5
Can anyone tell me what I get wrong, or is FlightGear not possible to use yet ?
Is it a thing with the INI file ?

You are perfectly right: the ClientFiles that were in the v160 distribution are not included in v170. I uploaded them to the Files-section, so anyone can download them from there.
I hope you can get it right with this help...

Thanks for the uploaded files. I was able to use FTNOIR now with FlightGear, but it was still quite troublesome.
1) I think the BAT file is wrong for the last parameter which should be --config="C:\Program Files\FlightGear\data\Nasal\headtracker.xml"
and it needs to be adapted to the actual installation path
Remark: I didn't use it anyhow, and set all the parameters in the advanced settings in FG startup GUI as described in the (french) link on top of this page
2) I had enourmous problems with axis shifts, which were way to big at FG startup. Only after I changed the curves for x,y,z almost to 0, i.e. max input results in <10 output I was able to stay within the aircraft.
In the beginning a head movement of 5cm sent me 20m behind or in front of the plane, so I barely was able to find the cockpit. ;-)
Where this excessive movement come from I don't understand.
Also I didn't understand how to use the FG dialog (headtracker browser) and if I could have used it to tweak the behaviour.
Thanks anyhow
Michael

The hint about conversion factor was very helpful.
I found a slightly improved version of "headtracker.xml" on the web (http://tinyurl.com/blogj2z) and changed the conversion factors. Now I can use FTNOIR with FlightGear as expected, also with "normal" curve settings.
A very helpful addition with this "headtracker.xml" is also, that a hint pops up during FlightGear startup about the "=" equal sign which initializes the headtracker from within FlightGear.
The combination of FTNOIR Shortkey "Center" AND the FlightGear "=" (initialization) up to now always brought me back to where I wanted the display to be.
For convenience I add the "improved" headtracker.xml to this message.
Edit:
A helpful Hint (added after orig. post):
I you get bored about the "headtracker settings" dialog popping up in FG and want to get rid of it then: just don't use the browser settings desribed above and leave that parameter setting empty ;-)
I made a little tutorial for "FlightGear" but it is in French
I tried to translate it this weekend

Hi thunderalex71,
Thanks for your feedback and your tutorial. I'm glad you like FaceTrackNoIR!

Hi mhab,
Sounds like a conversion problem from metres to centimetres...
I'm glad you got it working in spite.
