I have an issue with this tracking source. When i try to begin tracking, it crashes with the message "FTNoIR_FaceAPI_EXE.exe has stopped working". I have a webcam that is not in the compatible webcam's list, but if i choose the PointTracker as a source, it works properly, so i dont think its not compatible. I tried to reinstall the program and running it as administrator, but nothing changed. What can i do with this issue?

I have a similar problem. FTNoIR_FaceAPI_EXE.exe crashes after few seconds to few minutes after initialization. I am using PS3 Eye, FaceTrackNoIR 1.7, faceAPI 3.2.6, Windows 8.0 64-bit and application executed as administrator.

Despite those crashes, everything looks normal. After starting tracking (GO! -> start) I can see video from camera in a widget. FPS are about 56 Hz, CPU occupancy between 10-20%. It seems that when there is no one in front of a camera the video can be captured for hours, but when face is detected the process "FTNoIR_FaceAPI_EXE.exe" just quits after a moment without warning or crashes (when FTNoIR runs in windows compatibility modes), leaving video widget gray. PointTracker is working without this problem. Changing settings, filters, curves and etc. rather does not impact this behavior.

What can I do to diagnose this problem better?

    Hi tco_tm,

Can you try the faceAPI demo? You can download it from SeeingMachines.
If that crashes too, we'll at least know more...

Wim, thank you for reply. I tried Head Tracking Demo 6.2 and the problem is the same. So, if I correctly understand, issue is within Seeing Machine library and we can not solve it...?

Is there any way I can diagnose it any bit further? Run their application in some kind of debug/error verbose or logging mode?

Funny, but I think it is somehow connected to overall lighting of the scene. At noon crashes are less frequent 8-). I tried lighting my face (background still dark) during night/evening, but there was no positive effect. I will investigate it further.

Did you ever manage to figure it out? I'm stuck with the same problem now. As soon as face is recognized the API just crashes. No such issue with my laptop.
