In order to speed up my main pc , I thought about to try using my old athlon x64 as the image captivator (server pc ).
When I test there (face api-freetrack) my ps3 eye camera goes to 25 fps at 640x480 at normal priority while in high >35 fps

But i am trying to make it work as a server (FTnoir server -freetrack greyed out).

The server address is 192.168.1.10 port 5550 open
The client  address 192.168.1.11 port 5550 open. and it is set to receive from the server with correct port.
Firewall ESET is set to allow everything in both pcs

The client PC does not receive anything and the software closes with error saying  it did not find and available cameras (and crashes afterwards)

Is there something else to do?

Problem with kinect alternative camer at a second topic

    Hi parapountas,

OK, it may be a bit confusing, cause the terms 'server' and 'client' seem a bit 'mixed up'. Maybe I'll have to think of better terms there…

On your old athlon (with the web-cam), you select 'faceAPI' as Tracker source and 'FTNoiR client' as game-protocol. The settings for the game-protocol are as you mentioned.

On the client, you select 'FTNoIR server' as 'Tracker source' and FreeTrack (or whatever your game needs) as 'Game protocol'. Makes sense?

Do i need to have free track original software open in order to use the tracking within the game? Free track has emulation for mouse to pan inside cockpits.

Which game are you trying to play? You should not need FreeTrack any more.

Is there any way to make facetracknoir work on an atom netbook above 15hz? I think utilizing a netbook would maximize energy reserve and overall noise in the room.

    Currently with open window atom n70 2gb ddr2 > cpu this process ~65% mem 133 fps 12-15hz

Your software is really good congratulations

forgot to mention that On the atom I loose some frames and the tracking looses my face for 3-5 secs

    Hi parapountas,

Unfortunately DIRT and Apache Assault currently only support the new TrackIR5 protocol, which seems to be encrypted. The games are reported 'working with FaceTrackNoIR', but only when TrackIRFixer is used. I will see if the makers of these games can also be persuaded to support alternative head-tracking…

As for the netbook: face-tracking is a rather CPU-intensive business. I don't have a netbook, but it may be just a bit too much for that type of hardware. My Core2Duo usually needed 30% CPU for face-tracking and my new i7 only uses 9 - 11%. That leaves a lot more power for the (also CPU-demanding) game to run…

I cannot change the face-tracking algorithm, so I can't really change the CPU-load. If I could, question would be if it is possible to do accurate face-tracking with lower CPU-loads any way…

    Update:
Apache Assault works very well with FakeTrackIr. FacetracknoIr Server capture runs on the remote Netbook with 7-15 fps (68-90% CPU utilization), and it is more than enough for smooth head movement.

Thanks again a further donation is coming up :)
