    HI guys,

Sadly i am no techi so need some help here...finding the program brillain using face tracker but understand the UDP is better and more accurate..

I have downloaded all the software needed to my android phone.. as in Headtracker...

It says to make sure its connected to the same network as my pc..

I have an acer predator laptop....top end model..now..i am using ethernet for my laptop...a few questions i need help with pease if someone would be so kind...

    1. It says i need to connect my phone to the same network as my pc...so i found out want my IP address is by typing that into google...192.168.1.XX etc..i guess thats the right way?
    2. I used the default port but saw a video on youtube that says you should use 5556 or it wont work..i tried this on the phone and pc so they would match..no joy..
    3. My laptop is connected to the net via ethernet...do i need to also turn on the wireless feature as well for this to work?
    4. It also says to make sure you firewall isnt blocking the connection... not really sure how to do that.. but i guess there is some kind of alert?
    5. Using win10 64bit
    6. Sorry if this sounds really dumb but basically need someone to run me thru the process step by step..i am sure its goingt o be worth it?
    7. Anyone else using this tracking method and if so, better than the face tracking api?

Thanks heaps for any suggestions and help chaps

    Doug

    Its ok! Found the solution!

All working now..but is it only 3DOF or should be 6?

    Hi Doug,

I'm glad you got it "up and running" already!

So you are using your phone to do the tracking? Does it only use the gyro's and accelerometers for that? To get translations, the tracker would need to be able to determine your position compared to its position. I have not seen one that accurately does that. So I suppose rotations are all the phone sends (the UDP packets can contain 6DOF info).

have you ever tried a PS3Eye for facetracking? Many users find it OK

    Thanks for the reply Wim,

Yes indeed..using the Samsung galaxy note 4 for head tracking...i believ it does only use the gyros...hence the 3 DOF..how it can determine the position accurately may be difficult with a wireless filed and no real reference point...

Havent heard of PS3Eye as yet so will search that

    Many thanks for your help!

    Regards

    Doug
